New Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fanart. Webzine cover

Debido al trabajo, que ocupa casi todo mi tiempo y a cierta crisis creativa, hacía años que apenas dibujaba nada.
Hasta que me propusieron una portada para el webzine sobre manganime Koukyou_Zen. Me decidí por un fanart de Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, ya que la serie de animación se emite actualmente.
Comparto la ilustración del protagonista y la portada.

Due to my job, that keeps me busy the whole day and to a creativity crisis I was suffering for some years, I almost quitted drawing.
But some months ago, I was proposed to draw an illustration for manganime webzine Koukyou_Zen and I decided to do something. Since the animation TV series about Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is on air now, I drew the main character.

Encargo / Commission

Nunca me ha gustado mucho dibujar retratos. Aunque es difícil y ayuda a superarse, prefiero inventar a copiar, porque siento que limita mi creatividad. Pero recibí un encargo de una pareja y me lo planteé como un reto. Para añadir un elemento que lo distinguiera de lo que cualquier cámara de fotos puede hacer de forma más eficaz, se me ocurrió vestirlos de época y situarlos en una playa tormentosa. Por suerte han quedado muy satisfechos.

I don't like very much drawing portraits because I find more interesting creating something than copying it. It's a difficult challenge and a great exercise, but I find my imagination limited. So I decided to do something special, something that a camera couldn't take and transported the couple to the past dressing them with period outfits. I also put them on a stormy beach. I'm glad they are satisfied.
If you want me to draw something for you, I'm still accepting commissions.

Pelirroja en un sofá///Redhead on a couch.

Recientemente, me pidieron que dibujara un personaje original según una descripción muy detallada: Tendría que ser una mujer joven pelirroja, con el cabello rizado, un vestido rojo con corsé y sin mangas, recostada en un sofá verde oscuro.
Este es el resultado.
Lo más trabajoso ha sido el sofá.

Someone asked me to draw her original character. It had to be a young redhead woman with curly hair, a red dress with a sleeveless corset, lounging on a dark green couch.
That's the final result.
The couch was  that gave me more work.

Polvo de sueños.///Dream dust

Este dibujo iba a ser una felicitación de año nuevo.
Pero no lo terminé a tiempo y lo abandoné. Hace unos días decidí darle otra oportunidad.
Quería que tuviera  un cierto toque modernista. Al final terminó adquiriendo también algo de "burlesque", no sé muy bien por qué, ya que es algo que no me gusta.
Pensé que no le vendría mal ser una especie de hada de los sueños.
En el hueco de abajo había pensado incluir  el mensaje de año nuevo, por eso hay un espacio vacío.

This work was meant to be a New Year's card.
But I didn't finish it in time and I left it. Some days ago, I decided to give it another chance.
I intended to draw something with a slight modernist touch. It ended by getting some "burlesque" aesthetics, too. I don't know why, because I don't like it very much.
I finally thought the woman could be a sort of fairy of dreams.
Down left, I wanted to write some short New Year's message, that's why there's an empty area there.
Maybe I should write "Sweet dreams"

Amundsen

Una vez más he dibujado algo para felicitar a mi amiga Rowein por su cumpleaños.
Actualmente está publicando su webcomic "Terra Incognita", sobre la exedición de Amundsen,
Así que he aquí mi versión del protagonista.
La cría de pingüino emperador es una forma de restar un poco de seriedad al retrato, ya que la expresión del personaje es demasiado severa.

This year, again, I drew something to wish my friend Rowein a happy birthday.
She's drawing her online comic "Terra Incognita", a story about Amundsen's expedition, so, I decided to draw the main character.
The Emperor penguin chicken is there because I didn't want this portrait to have such a tense atmosphere, since Amundsen's expression is so serious.

Wonder Woman

Un amigo aficionado al comic de superhéroes me propuso dibujar a Wonder Woman.
Aunque desconozco bastante el género, me pareció una propuesta interesante.
Por desgracia no salvé el dibujo en buena calidad, así que volveré a colorearlo a partir del boceto y cuando termine compartiré la nueva versión.

A friend of mine, who likes superheroes comics, suggested me to draw one of his favorite characters, Wonder Woman.
I'm not a big fan of that kind of characters, but found the idea pretty challenging.
Unfortunately, I didn't save the file at a good resolution.
I'll color again the previous sketch to have a better colored version of this work. As soon as a finish the new coloring, I'll share it , so you'll be able to compare it to this one.

Witch Hunter Robin

"Witch Hunter Robin" es un anime de los 90 sobre una organización que se dedica a capturar "brujos"; unos individuos con poderes, muy peligrosos. La joven Robin, la protagonista, es una cazadora y tiene habilidades especiales también. En concreto, puede producir fuego con la mirada.
Es una gran serie, bien dibujada, adulta y con inesperados giros argumentales, muy interesante.
Como volvía a verla hace poco, me entraron ganas de dibujar al personaje principal. Debería haberle dado un aire más aniñado, pues sólo tiene quince años. Digamos que es una Robin un poco más adulta.

"Witch Hunter Robin" is an anime show from the 90's about an organization that hunts "witches". They are dangerous people with psychic powers. Robin is a young hunter girl who has a special hability, too. She can invoke fire.
It's a very interesting anime, with a great art, adult stories and unexpected situations.
I recently watched and enjoyed it again and felt like drawing the main characters. I should have drawn her with a more grown up look, she's just 15. But, well...We can always say she's an adult version of her.

Por fín llegaron las antologías.////I finally got the anthologies!

Ya he recibido unos cuantos ejemplares de la antología a color en la que participé junto con algunas artistas coreanas. He de decir que contiene trabajos muy interesantes y de muy variados estilos; diferentes maneras de ver a los asesinos.
La calidad de impresión es muy buena también.

Antología a color de Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Hace cosa de un mes, una amiga de Corea, excelente artista y fan como yo del equipo de asesinos de Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, me ofreció formar parte de un proyecto:
Una antología con ilustraciones a color de estos personajes en que participarían otras autoras de su país.
Acepté encantada.
La antología, de 24 páginas (sin contar la portada) reúne trabajos de nueve artistas coreanas y también dos nuevas ilustraciones mías.
Podrá adquirirse en la Comic World de Seúl a partir del próximo 16 de febrero.

About one month ago, a friend from Korea, who is an excellent artist and a big assassin team's (jojo's Bizarre Asventure) fan like me, propposed me to take part in a project:
An anthology of color illustrations of these characters, drawn by several artists from Korea.
I accepted.
The anthology has 24 pages + cover and shows the works of 9 great korean artists. It also includes two new illustrations by me.
It will be on sale next 16th. February in Comic World, in Seoul.

Hoy comparto un dibujo de un estilo algo diferente; un poco más infantil.
Se trata de una versión enfadada y cabezona de la Reina de Corazones de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas.
La he dibujado para felicitar a una amiga por su cumpleaños.

Hulk en Barcelona/Hulk in Barcelona

Mi Hulk rodeado de otros muchos Hulks maravillosos, ya en Barcelona. Espero que todos ellos se reúnan pronto con Richi y que así el niño vea cuánta gente le envía su cariño y su apoyo.

You can see there my Hulk with a lot of other awsome Hulks around it. They already are in Barcelona and will be soon in Richi's hands, so he'll be able to see that a lot of people likes and support him.

Un Hulk para Richi / Hulk for Richi

Richi es un niño de siete años al que le encanta Hulk.
Tiene meduloblastoma, un terrible tipo de cancer cerebral. En este momento está siguiendo un difícil tratamiento en Boston.
La ilustradora Marisa Martínez está reuniendo dibujos del coloso verde para enviarlos a Richi y animarle en estos duros momentos.
Se le pueden enviar por correo o entregar en mano en el Salón del Manga de Barcelona, que se celebrará en la Fira del 1 al 4 de noviembre.

A pesar de que el estilo del comic de superhéroes es algo ajeno para mí y de que Hulk no es un tipo de personaje que se me dé bien dibujar, no podía dejar de formar parte de una iniciativa tan bonita, así que esta es mi versión de "La Masa".
No está conseguida, pero he experimentado y aprendido algunas cosas.

Richi is a seven years old boy who loves the incredible Hulk.
He's ill with nebuloblastoma, an awful brain cancer. Right now, Richi is undergoing a complicated medical treatment in a clinic in Boston.
Spanish artist Marisa Martínez is collecting Hulk drawings to send all of them together to Richi in order to encourage him during this hard time.
Works can be shipped by postal mail or giving them to Marisa in her stand in Salón del Manga convention, that will take place in Barcelona from 1 to 4 November.

American superhero comic style is very unfamiliar to me and Hulk isn't the kind of character I know how to draw. But I couldn't avoid to take part of this beautiful  initiative, so I accepted the challenge and drew my version of  the green giant. I didn't succeed, but learnt and experimented with a lot of things.

El Conde de la Rosa Negra//Count of the Black Rose

También este año he felicitado a Van Durán por su cumpleaños con un dibujo de uno de sus personajes.
Se trata del misterioso conde de la Rosa Negra de su comic "El Esclavo de la Rosa", cuya lectura recomiendo a todos los amantes del cómic de época con intrigas, misterio, romance y mucha pasión.
La rosa debería haber sido negra, pero me he tomado la licencia porque desde que el dibujo estaba en fase de boceto en todo momento la he visualizado de este color.
Las rosas color fuego son mis favoritas.

This year again, I drew an illustration to wish my friend Van Durán a happy birthday. 
There you have the mysterious Count of the Black Rose, from her comic "The Slave of the Rose", a work I highly recommend you if you like period stories plenty of mysterys,intrigue,romance and passion. 
The rose should have been black, but I've imagined it orange since the first moment I started drawing it. 
Fire color roses are my favorite.

Tom Hiddleston - Loki

Hoy es el cumpleaños de unas buenas amigas y fans de Tom Hiddleston en su interpretación de  Loki, en la película "Los Vengadores". Así que para felicitarlas me pareció adecuado dibujar al actor.
No soy buena retratando. El retrato requiere mucha paciencia y observación. Una pequeña variación puede hacer que el dibujo no se parezca al modelo.
Por suerte, Hiddleston tiene unos rasgos muy característicos, lo que facilita mucho las cosas.
Es un trabajo rápido y algo descuidado, pero pude ofrecerlo a tiempo y parece que ha gustado, que era su razón de ser, así que me doy por satisfecha.

Today's the birthday of two friends of mine, that are very fond on Tom Hiddleston as Loki in "Avengers". That's why I found drawing him  was a nice way to express my best wishes to them.

I'm not goot drawing portaits. You need to be very patient and observant. A little variation and the drawing doesn't look  like the model.

Fortunately, Hiddleston's features are very characteristic and  it made things easier.

This is a fast and a little careless work, but I could offer it in time and my friends liked it, so I'm somehow satisfied.

Assassin's Creed fanart

Hace exactamente un año, Mintonia pidió como regalo de cumpleaños un dibujo de Ezio, del juego "Assassin's Creed". Yo me ofrecí a complacerla, pero la verdad es que tras un par de intentos fallidos decidí dejarlo para "más adelante"...Y al final, han transcurrido doce meses.
No se parece nada al personaje original, pero espero que a Mintonia, que lo dibuja mucho mejor que yo, le guste.
A excepción del efecto del destello, para el que he utilizado Photoshop, el resto del dibujo está realizado con SAI.

One year ago, Mintonia asked her friends to draw for her Ezio, from the game "Assassin's Creed" as a birthday gift. I liked the callenge and volunteered to do it. After some failed attempts,  I decided to left it and try again later...And so, time passed and I only took the task again twelve months later.

I still don't like it, and I think my Ezio doesn't look at all like the original one, but at least I hope Mintonia likes my version. She draws Ezio far better than me.

Except for the light effect on Ezio's weapon, that was made with Photoshop, I only used SAI.

Este es el boceto previo. Mucho más expresivo, pero con grandes fallos anatómicos en el rostro que corregí después como puede verse en el dibujo final.

This is the previous sketch. It was far more expressive, but the face had some big anatomical mistakes that I corrected in the final version.

Yajirobai

Aunque hace ya algunas semanas que lo dibujé, no había compartido todavía aquí este fanart. Se trata de Yajirobai, un  secundario de Dragon Ball, que es uno de los personajes favoritos de un amigo. Él me regaló un dibujo de Freezer, que es quien más me gusta en el manga de Toriyama y yo le correspondí con este Yaji. Nunca lo había dibujado antes y la verdad es que cada vez me resulta más divertido realizar fanarts de personajes "no tan guapos".

I drew this fanart some weeks ago, but forgot to share it here. He's Yajirobai, one of the secondary characters in Dragon Ball. A friend of mine likes this guy very much, and, since he drew Frieza for me (Frieza is my favourite Dragon Ball character) I corresponded with this work.

It was my first time drawing Yaji and I've enjoyed it. I've lately noticed that to draw "not so handsome" characters is really funny.
